When people search what does the Bible say about heaven, they're usually asking one of two questions: is it real, and will I see the person I lost? Scripture's answers are both more careful and more comforting than the pop-culture picture of clouds and harps.
Revelation 21:1-4 is the heart of the biblical vision: a new heaven and new earth, the city of God descending to dwell with people, God himself wiping away every tear, death no more. It is less an escape from earth than a renewal of it — what creation was always meant to be, finally arrived. Jesus told his disciples, "In my Father's house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:1-3). Paul writes that we have "a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" (2 Corinthians 5:1).
On the question of recognition — will you know your loved ones — scripture doesn't give a clinical answer, but it strongly implies yes. The transfigured Christ is recognized. The disciples expect reunion. Hebrews 11:13-16 describes the faithful as longing for "a better country" and being prepared a city. 1 Corinthians 2:9 is honest: no eye has seen, no ear has heard, what God has prepared. The details exceed our imagination — but the love behind them does not.

Verses
Revelation 21:1-4
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
2 Corinthians 5:1
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Philippians 3:20-21
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Hebrews 11:13-16
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
